Our goal when we started to design this one was to make a neat and sturdy engine does not need to be maintained after hundreds times of repeated use. And now here it is. It's a firm engine made of solid metal: mainly constructed by high grade 6061 aluminum alloy; key parts use SUJ2 bearing steel with precision up to 0.002mm tolerance! Special surface treatments was made to make sure this engine shining for years.
Working Temperature Differential of this engine is around 40-50°C/72-90°F, much higher compare to our other engines. The main reason is we use a power piston made by bearing steel other than glass! Weight of the power piston is about 26.5g/0.93oz while a glass one is about 6.5g/0.23oz.
To play this engine, simply pour BOILING water into your mug, wait for 20 seconds, then give the flywheels a gentle push, it will then rotate by itself for about 20-30 minutes. I don't know what will you do with the engine, for me, every morning when I get to my office, after making sure my boss is not somewhere nearby, I will put mine on mug and watch it rotate for a while.
It is not designed for kids. If you are a starter at Stirling engine I do not suggest this one; if the one you send it as a gift to is not very close to you I do not suggest this one too since it is expensive. In both cases you have wide choices of LTDs in our store. This is an engine that will accompany you or those you love for years. If it is a gift, he/she will think about you every morning:-)
It's not necessary to lubricate any parts to get it going faster. Finest material with finest workmanship ensure its durability. This is an engine work in good condition for many years without lubrication.
