The strainer is the preferred choice simply because one does not have to disconnect the whole assembly to replace or clean the screen mesh.
Tri Clamp inline strainers are available with fine 100 mesh.
The mesh is designed to be porous enough so as not to clog easily, but still trap large solids from passing through.
This unit can be furnished with Bevel Seat, I-Line, or Buttweld ends.
It is recommended that a strainer be placed after a pump, but prior to a plate chiller to reduce the debris entering the chiller, and ultimately the fermentation tank
