How To Use The Rolled Hem Presser Foot
Instructions
1. Snap on the Narrow Hem Foot
2. Press a double hem (the width of the tunnel on the underside of the foot) in the first inch of the hem
3. Place under the presser foot and stitch several stitches along the edge of the hem
4. Stop with the needle in the fabric, raise the presser foot
and pull the fabric edge up into the scroll/guide on the foot, lower the presser foot, continue to sew
Do not help the fabric edge to roll, simply hold it vertically
What Size Hem Foot To Use
2mm narrow hem foot: Use lightweight fabrics such as chiffons,
batiste, and silk. Use a straight stitch
5mm narrow hem foot: Used for medium to lightweight fabrics such as calico, home dec fabrics
Use a straight stitch, zig-zag stitch, or a decorative stitch
3mm shell/hem foot: Use on fabrics that are soft like lingerie, batiste, challis and other lightweight stretchy fabrics
Tips: if the edge of the fabric tends to glide out of the hemmer, guide the fabric slightly to the right
If too much fabric enters the hem foot, pull it slightly to the left
