Here is how to tell quality MOXA from ash: High purity moxa contains much less mugwort leaves and branches, and the ash color should be black/gray. Our moxa stick is made with high purity, good quality MOXA with very little mugwort leaves and branches, so the ash is black gray color. Low purity moxa stick contains very little moxa, most part just powdered mugwort leaves and branches, so the ashes end up white/gray. Any will have some type of smoke if you are burrning it.
