It is similar to the toaster heating element. When switched on glows red hot and begins to heat the dryer. It glows until the dryer reaches a pre-set temperature and is turned off. When the temperature drops down from a certain level the heating element turns on and the same process starts again until the cycle is over and the clothes are dry.
