The black satin silk cord is soft and sleek, 20" long with a 2" extension chain. The shell is about 2" across and is light-weight. Care should be taken with the necklace as it is a real shell painted gold! Although they are fragile and could break if dropped on a hard surface from high up (i.e. - if a seagull plucks it from your neck and it crashes onto the floorboards of a ship!), they are not eggshell thin and are a bit sturdy.
