A honing oil prevents or slows down stone loading and increases sharpening performance. Gritomatic Honing Oil is pure oleic acid which is one of the best lubricants for oilstones. Multiple experiments have determined that oleic oil behaves better during sharpening in comparison with branded mineral oils. Oleic oil is recommended for all natural stones and ceramic stones.
