The FOLDING ROD is a 3-section black metal shaft and the RIBS are a HYBRID of FIBERGLASS and BLACK METAL. Mixing in fiberglass along with metal will give the strength needed to combat heavy winds. The CANOPY is made with 210T NYLON fabric with TEFLON coating which is incredibly durable as well as waterproof. Just give it a few shakes and you'll see the remarkable difference from any substandard umbrellas which will either have less thread count or even polyester material.
