This ship has been painstakingly recreated in die-cast and plastic materials then hand painted with an incredible level of detail. The vehicle also comes with a full color collector magazine. Vehicle measures approximately 3.5 inches by 7.5 inches. One of the most important starships in interstellar history, Enterprise (NX-01) was the culmination of the NX Project. The NX-01 was the first NX-class starship, launched by the United Earth Starfleet in 2151. The Enterprise established United Earth as a legitimate interstellar power and caused a wholesale revolution in Alpha and Beta Quadrant politics, paving the way for the creation of the Coalition of Planets in 2155, and eventually the United Federation of Planets in 2161. Visual effects artist Doug Drexler had a concept for the development of Enterprise that was never used on the show. "My idea was that at the end of the fourth season, the ship would put into dry-dock for a major refit," he explained. "After four years, out there, dealing with unknowns, it would be time to upgrade the ship based on everything they had learned." Drexler designed an extensive refit-NX-class which had an added secondary hull reminiscent of that of the Constitution-class, with nacelles moving closer in appearance to those on that class. This issue is quite special in the fact that it is the only ship in the "Official Star Trek Starships Collection" to have never appeared in any Star Trek episode or film. This refit version of the NX-01 has only been seen in the Star Trek: Ships of the Line calendar in 2011. While no official plans had been made, the assumption in certain circles was that, had the series been renewed for a fifth season, this refit design would have been featured in the series. The fully illustrated magazine includes details of the NX-01 Refit's capabilities and design.
