Shostakovich: Chamber Symphonies;

This album contains works by Russian composer Dmitry Shostakovich (1906-1975), transcribed by Rudolf Barshai. Barshais professional relationship with Shostakovich lasted until the composers passing in 1975. His transcriptions of Shostakovichs works were ambitious, and served as a catalyst for many future re-workings from string ensemble to full orchestra. This album was recorded at the Concer Hall of the National Radio of Ukraine, Kiev, in October of 2014, the Kiev Soloists with Dmitry Yablonsky performing.
