Receiving word that his mother has passed away, mountain man Gordon Hawkes reluctantly returns home to Missouri to pick up the package she left for him. Upon arrival, he is attacked by a posse looking to collect the bounty on his head. In order to escape, Hawkes decides to hide out among the Mormons and guide them to their own promised land.
