The 150th anniversary year of Jean Sibelius has seen a surge of releases of the complete cycles of his sweeping symphonies. The Lahti Symphony Orchestra whose Sibelius discography has been hailed as revelatory presents their second visitation with the cycle in this boxed set of recordings made between 2012-14 including three SACDs with a surround sound option, and a comprehensive booklet with informative notes by Andrew Barnett, author of Sibelius (Yale University Press). The first complete Sibelius cycle recorded by conductor, Okko Kamu ; their previous recording of Tapiola garnered numerous awards and critical acclaim.
