This AT-1 accessory is used to attach any standard guitar strap to the head of an acoustic guitar, bass, mandolin or other instrument that does not come with a second strap button. It is used by slipping the AT-1 under the guitar strings at the headstock, pushing the metal button through the leather strap and then using the metal button as your strap button to attach any standard guitar strap. This eliminates the common "tie it on with a shoestring" approach, looks much more professional and is also much more secure.
