On September 6th, 1963 the Proms presented a concert to mark the 150th anniversary of Wagner's birth that included the entire third act of Gotterdammerung. Georg Solti led the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House for what was in effect a dress rehearsal for a new production of the complete Gotterdammerung which was to be staged at the Royal Opera House a few days later. Recorded live at the Royal Albert Hall, this performance of Act III featured Birgit Nilsson as Brunhilde and Wolfgang Windgassen as Siegfried.
