Our Loofah sponges originate from the natural fibers in

gourds from the Luffa cylindrica plant and they can be quite stiff and abrasive when new. 

Soaking the new Loofahs in hot water will help soften the fibers prior to

first use and they'll continue to soften over time. 

In addition, the sponges are compressed prior to packaging for increased shipping efficiency.
