How does Color Prep work? Color Prep shrinks and neutralizes the color pigment, allowing you to achieve your desired hair color and avoid off tones and color build up; preparing your hair before you color. Color Prep will remove color build-up: Over time, your favorite hair color can become over saturated with dye, making it very dull and off-tone. Color Prep will remove the old dull color, leaving your hair ready for a color application with truer results. Switch hair color easily: In order to change your hair color to a lighter shade, or to a different shade all together, apply Color Prep to remove any unwanted color up to 3 levels. Color Prep will prime your hair for re-coloring and help you to achieve the hair color of your choice. Color Prep does NOT work on direct dyes: Color Prep is formulated for use on oxidative hair color (hair color used in combination with hydrogen peroxide (oxide/developer). Color Prep will not work on direct dyes such as bright reds, pinks, blues, greens, purples etc.
