Exploring outside the traditional classical canon, Bernhard Hofstoetter here brings together some of his favorite pieces for Baroque lute, featuring both well-known and more obscure composers. What the works all have in common is Vienna, a hub of music making during its golden age as the Habsburg capital. Viennese by birth, Bernhard Hofstoetter takes a keen interest in contemporary music, although he specializes in 17th - 18th c. repertoire for the solo lute. He won the Pasticcio Award on Austrian national radio for his recording of music by the Baroque lutenist and composer Silvius Leopold Weiss.
