Orchestral Works - Sinfonietta;

The latest cpo release to feature the works of Paul Graener contains yet more impressive selections from his symphonic oeuvre. His Piano Concerto (1926) of neoclassical character and popular flair and his Symphonietta (1906) occupy the focus. Like his great Symphony in d (cpo 777 679-2), the Symphonietta lends moving expression to the insurmountable grief felt by the composer following his sons boyhood death. Three Swedish dances, op. 98 and the Divertimento, op. 67 round out this musical offering of a composer long tainted by National Socialist Party membership and Reichsmusikkammer post.
