This wonderful piece of art work is handcrafted by Haitian artisans in their traditional manner by using materials they find around them. In this case the metal from recycled oil drums is cut, shaped and contoured to produce the desired outcome. Considering the dire economic circumstances under which the Haitian people find themselves it is a true mark of human imagination and resourcefulness that they carry on this artistic tradition. The Haitian artists who designed and sculpted this art piece work with the Beyond Borders organization and are well-compensated for their efforts.
