The King's Men are a close harmony group made up of fifteen choral scholars from the Choir of King's College, Cambridge. The group has previously released recordings for the Signum label focusing on folk and classical repertoire, but the more 'popular' side was not documented until now. The album includes arrangements of popular music tracks such as ''Call Me Maybe,'' ''Forget You'' and ''I Want you Back'' as well as classics like ''Old Man River'' and ''Swing Low, Sweet Chariot.'' Listeners are sure to delight in the purity of the a cappella voices and diverse songs selected by the group. The majority of the album was recorded live in a semicircle and without digital systems. This has ensured a purity of sound, ideal for the more complex harmonies in some of the songs, and provided an intimacy to the recording.
