"Octave" by Abi Alice is produced simply by cutting, bending & welding specific areas of an 18/10 stainless steel sheet & the result is an elegant container for the table suitable for serving bread or breadsticks. The polished finish enhances the sophisticated simplicity of the object & the project reflects Abi Alice's interest in mathematics & geometry. With "Octave" the designer explores the creative potential of the ellipse to create harmonic & proportionate forms. In music an 'octave' is the interval between one tone & another. These new objects were created using this ratio, which corresponds to a musical octave; the inspiration behind the name of the project.
