What exactly is a bubble counter?
A bubble counter is a fast and easy way to get an accurate reading on how much CO2 is in your fish tank or water plant aquarium. With just a glance, you can clearly see the bubbles (caused by CO2 gas) to get a quick bubbles-per-second count. Your desired CO2 level is determined by the species of fish or plants that you have in your tank. A general estimate is 1 bubble per second. More bubbles in the water means more CO2 gas (and a lower pH level) while less bubbles mean less CO2. It only takes a moment to look at the bubble counter to get a quick calculation of your CO2 levels.
How does the CO2 regulator work?
Made of durable, transparent BPA-free plastic, the Rhinox DIY CO2 Bubble Counter simply connects to the tubing in your CO2 diffuser and is then placed onto the outside of your tank using the included suction cup. The 2" x 1" x 0.8" bubble counter should be filled with water to just under the solid black indicator line. CO2 gas in the water creates bubbles which show up in the clear bubble counter, giving you a visual indicator of the CO2 level in your aquarium water.
How important is knowing my aquarium's bubble count?
Aquatic plants and pets thrive in specific habitats, some with high CO2 and low pH levels and others with lower CO2 and higher pH requirements. Demanding bunch plants like glosso need high amounts of CO2 to grow healthy and happy.
