Ace/Kent's third collection of classic George Jackson recordings is every bit as good as the first two: (KEN363 and KEN380). George's superb songwriting and vocal artistry has made him a hero to all devotees of southern soul and they will not be disappointed with the contents of Old Friend, which features another two dozen previously-unheard-and-unissued tracks from the stockpile of Fame masters. George's accompanists on these recordings include Fame's renowned second rhythm section, the Swampers, and their successors the Fame Gang. Virtually all of the tracks were recorded at Fame's studio in Muscle Shoals or at their short-lived Memphis premises.
