- The piston goes up and down in a Compatible with Linear reciprocating Compatible with Action as the crank revolves. Rotational motion is converted to Compatible with Linear motion using a crank and piston arrangement. Depending on the orientation of the guide, the Compatible with Linear motion can be vertical or horizontal (or in another direction).
- Compatible with Cast Iron or cast steel crankshafts are used in the majority of OEM crankshafts. The fundamental shape of the crank is created by pouring molten metal into a sand casting, which is then machined to precise tolerances.
- THE CAUSE OF BROKEN CRANKSHAFTS IS RARELY MATERIAL FATIGUE BROUGHT ABOUT BY EXTENDED USE. Mechanical overload of the crankshaft due to aberrant combustion, water hammers, and other factors are far more common causes of damaged crankshafts. Engine jams owing to a damaged gearbox, loose counterweights, etc.
- Signs of a bad crankshaft: - A forging or casting flaw - Insufficient lubrication - Bearing wear - Loose bearing main caps - Distorted bearing bores - Improper bearing clearance - Bearing failure
