Soutache is a narrow, flat braid in a herringbone pattern and is great for passementerie projects--create tassels, fringe, military braid and other textile embellishments. The BeadSmith's Rayon Soutache was designed with tremendous attention to consistency of width, thickness and drape and can be successfully combined with polyester braid. Soutache and Bead Embroidery utilizes the soutache differently in that rather than being laid flat and sewn into curving shapes onto another surface, it is stacked in multiple layers and stitched so that the edges of the soutache are what is seen Ð like looking at a sandwich from the side.
