Book 3 In The Heroes Of War Series

Forty two combat veterans, all of whom had served as Long Range Reconnaissance Patrol members in Vietnam, and all of whom have been selected as cadre members for the newly created 1st Battalion Ranger (ABN), 75th Infantry. Highly skilled, and highly motivated, they have been separated from their peers and asked to volunteer for a hazardous mission outside the Continental United States involving serious risks to their person. They are advised that the mission is so secret that if they are caught, the Secretary of State will disavow any knowledge of their existence. There is no explanation offered, just the fact that there is a job that needs to be done, and that they are uniquely qualified to do it. There is no flag waving, and no enticement whatsoever. They are told that they are free to refuse the mission, that there is no shame in turning it down.
When the meeting reconvenes after a short break, all forty two men are present. The job at hand sounds like it is right up their alley...
