The author, now retired with over 45 years in law enforcement, was raised in both South Central and East Los Angeles neighborhoods during the 1940s and 1950s. He grew up with the generation that ultimately formed Southern California’s Mexican Mafia. Officer Morrill, as an original member of the first “Prison Gang Task Force” to be formed in the State, came to personally know and interview senior Mexican Mafia leaders, engaging them behind prison walls and out on the streets of Southern California.
