Correct Plus: Supination and pronation are normal parts of the walking and running motion cycle of the foot. However, over-supination (sometimes evident by having “bow legs”, or if the foot rolls outwards), or over-pronation, can cause problems throughout the body. Correct Plus is a ¾ length orthotic that helps correct over-supination. To tell if you over-supinate, look at the soles of your shoes. Are the soles worn on the outside more than the inside? If so, you probably over-supinate. Or you can try this: wet your foot and stand on a piece of paper. If your feet are normal, you should see a forefoot and heel mark and a connecting line that is about ½ the width of your foot. If you see a narrower line, or even no connecting line, then your foot over-supinates. Over-supination can contribute to developing plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendonitis, shin splints, stress fractures, and ankle, knee, and hip strains. Because over-supination is a biomechanical problem, wearing an orthotic foot bed, such as Pedag Correct or Correct Plus, can be very helpful.
