Leonetto Cappiello (9 April 1875 in Livorno, Italy - 2 February 1942 in Cannes, France) was an Italian poster art designer who lived in Paris. He was so enamored with the City of Light that he quickly became a naturalized citizen. Subsequently, he became the most outstanding posterist to emerge in the period between 1900 and the outbreak of World War I. In a career that spanned over 40 years, he produced an average of two posters a month. It is now estimated that he created over 1,000 designs, not only for French clients but for advertisers all over Europe.
