The 12-Pounder Light Gun known as the "Napoleon" was widely used because it worked so well. Solid shot, explosive shell, spherical case shot (containing many small balls) and canister could all be shot with lethal effect. Effective range was approximately 1000 yards, and top range was nearly one mile. Rifled cannons could shoot for more distance and a lot more perfectly, but were not so effective with canisters. Confederate ammunition for rifled guns suffered from such destructive mistakes that Southern gunners were really partial to the usage of Napoleons. Any Civil War buff would appreciate this miniature cannon, which is a smaller version of the original.Features Stylish accent decor piece Makes a nice collection Historical gift item - super for the history buff Looks great on desk or shelf Measurements Length: 4" Height: 1.75" Weight: 0.25lb.
