Honduras rosewood (dalbergia stevensonii) Central America. Heartwood color can range from a deep brownish-purple to a light-brown. Most common is a brownish-mauve color. Sapwood is a striking contrast of creamy white. Grain is straight with a medium to fine texture. It has a moderate blunting effect on cutting edges due to its high density. Being hard and dense it has a somewhat resonant tone when tapped with a hard object, making it well-suited for acoustic guitars, xylophone keys, and other acoustic musical instruments. Larger blocks are +- 1/4" of size listed, smaller blocks +- 1/8". Spindle stock (1-1/2" - 2") dimensions are +-1/8". Grain runs with the longest dimension.
