This is a Trumpeter 1/350 Scale assembly and painting required plastic model kit of the SS John W. Brown (B-4611), one of two Liberty Ships that are still floating today. L: 384.3mm, W: 50.2 mm. *Historical synopsis: Liberty ships were cargo ships conceived by the British and built in the United States during the Second World War. Liberty ships were cheap and quick to build, and with over 2,700 Liberty Ships were built during the war; these ships came to symbolize U.S. wartime industrial output. B-4611 Liberty Ship was named after labor union leader John W. Brown (1867 - 1941). During World War II, the SS John W. Brown made 13 wartime voyages to the Persian Gulf and the Mediterranean, including duty during the Anzio landings. She was also part of the liberation force of Southern France during Operation Dragoon in August, 1944. The SS John W. Brown survived the war and is today a museum ship located at Clinton Street Pier 1 in Baltimore Harbor.
