The Ideal Vol-Test 61-085 is a voltage tester that has replaceable test leads with shielded probe tips, audible and visual (LED) indication of voltage levels, and European Union (EN) safety standard 61010, Category III 600V. It has measurement ranges of 120 VAC, 240 VAC, 480 VAC, and 600VAC and 120 VDC, 240 VDC, and 600VDC. Applications include locating blown fuses, locating excessive leakage to ground, locating the grounded side of a line, testing for 25- to 60-cycle frequency, or testing a grounded side of a motor or appliance.
Voltage testers detect electrical current in cables, cords, circuit breakers, switches, wiring, and other components of electrical systems. They can test for live circuits, proper grounding, adequate voltage, and flowing current. They might be used by homeowners to test electrical outlets or by linemen to test power lines.
