Schumacher jump starter products must be charged on a regular basis as per the product manual. It is recommended the PSJ-2212 unit be charged immediately after initial purchase, again each time after the jump starter is used, and every 30 days to keep the unit fully charged for use. If the jump starter is not charged regularly, the unit will not have sufficient power to jump start a vehicle and the battery will not continue to hold a charge over time
