The design features three Latin mottos: E Pluribus Unum, "Out of many, one", a motto of the United States; Tuebor, "I will defend"; and Si Quaeris Peninsulam Amoenam Circumspice, "If you seek a pleasant peninsula, look about you" (the official state motto).
