This production of The Maid of Orleans is famous for its magnificent crowd scenes, processions and battle scenes. With libretto by the composer, it is founded on Zhukovsky's Russian version of Schiller's tragedy. The Bolshoi Opera's all-Russian cast is enhanced by the exceptionally talented soprano Nina Rautio in the title role.
