Don Fagerquist is probably one of the most under-recognized trumpet players in jazz. His skill is right up there with Fats Navarro and Clifford Brown, but because he recorded only this album as leader, he has not received the acclaim he deserves. Much of his career was spent as a studio musician, and his playing is on so many albums, movie soundtracks and television shows that few people have not heard him. Nevertheless, he has top notch jazz credentials. This album recorded for Mode in 1957 at Radio Recorders, engineered by Bones Howe, is one of the best early stereo recordings available. Charts are by Marty Paich.
