While the Strauss and Korngold selections offer von Otter many opportunities to display her unique remarkable vocal talents, Alban Berg's youthful, highly expressive 7 Early Songs arguably contains the program's most evocative, colorful, and memorable moments. Her deft vibratoless renderings of the opening Nacht and sixth song Liebesode in particular are simply otherworldly. Deutsche Grammophon's sound is very good with exceptional clarity and presence.
