Cy Twombly’s immortal work will be celebrated this fall in a major retrospective at the Centre Pompidou in Paris. A homage to the genius of one of 20th century’s greatest artists, it will certainly be the last major retrospective of his work for many years to come―of an oeuvre that in recent years has seen enormous intellectual and economic revaluation. Presenting single works and series from the early 1950s to 2011, the year of Twombly’s death, it will be accompanied by an opulent catalogue, to be published as part of Schirmer/Mosel series of major Twombly monographs. Essays by, among others, John Yau, Nicolas Cullinan, Giorgio Agamben, Nicola Del Roscio, Sally Mann, Alessandro Twombly, and French and German art historians. Published in English language, it will appear to coincide with the Paris exhibition opening on November 30, 2016.
