Modern Tahtib: Egyptian Baton Martial and Festive Art;

Modern Tahtib (MT) is the update version of the Egyptian Battle staff. 5000 years after its first engravings on Sahourê Pyramid, it is now a sport, a peaceful and structured martial art, with instructors and tournaments. It is played with a 1.30m long rattan stick. Jousting, combat and forms take place in a circle. The audience and the drummers develop a festive and respectful atmosphere.
In 2016, the traditional version of MT has been inscribed at Unesco Heritage, “Tahteeb- Stick game”.
 
Le Modern Tahtib (MT) est le résultat de l'actualisation du bâton de combat égyptien. Plus de 5000 ans après ses premières transcriptions, c'est désormais un sport, art martial pacifique, avec des instructeurs et des tournois. Il se pratique avec un bâton en rotin d'1m30 pour des combats dans un cercle. Les musiciens et le public créent une ambiance respectueuse et festive. ?En 2016, la version traditionnelle du MT a été inscrite au Patrimoine de l'Unesco, « Tahtib – Jeu du bâton ».
