La Villa Nueva de Santa Cruz de la Canada de los Mexicanos Espanoles del Rey Nuestro Senor Don Carlos Segundo was established in April of 1695 by Governor and Captain General of New Mexico Don Diego de Vargas. This third volume in the series of Santa Cruz Baptisms includes baptisms from 1827 to 1856. Most of the baptismal records include the name of the child being baptized, the baptismal date, the date of birth or age at baptism, names of parents and of godparents. Some entries include place of residence and race. The book includes a list of abbreviations and phrases used in the publication, as well as three name indexes. The profits from publications by the New Mexico Genealogical Society are used to help preserve the historical and genealogical history of New Mexico.
