Commencing with the 1984 (18th) Edition of The Southern California Camellia Society CAMELLIA NOMENCLATURE a large number of Species Japonica and Sasanqua cultivars were deleted to reduce both space and cost. Most, but not all, of the cultivars that were eliminated had been introduced prior to 1950, and generally speaking, were no longer in ‘substantial commercial distribution.' The Nomenclature Research Committee has received a large number of requests to print a list of those Species Japonica and Sasanqua cultivars that were eliminated. This ‘Supplement’ is that list. This list is confined to Species Japonica and Sasanqua only as no other species were eliminated after 1981 or at any other time. This supplement may be used with the 1996 and all subsequent editions of the NOMENCLATURE BOOK. It will no longer be necessary to use the 1981 ‘Historical Edition’ as a supplement.
