The Chronicles of a Detroit Railfan series of books brings back to life the many fascinating railroads serving a great city in the last quarter of the 20th Century when they were still so very interesting and so many. This is Volume 7 of Chronicles of a Detroit Railfan and it is about the Detroit River Carferry and Tunnel Railroad Operations during the years 1975 to 2000. The Detroit River was a natural boundary between Detroit and Canada and Detroit’s railroads sailed over the River and ran underneath it to reach Windsor, Ontario on the other side. Both the Carferry and Tunnel operations were fascinating and exciting to see and are covered extensively in this book in both color and black and white photographs taken by the author.
