Steve Bart attended Illinois Central College in East Peoria, Illinois, and the University of Illinois at Champaign. He took mostly police science related classes. He also graduated from the American Institute of Applied Science in Applied Scientific Investigation and is also a full paralegal.

For nearly twenty years, Steve worked as a police officer in his own little city in Illinois. Later, he took up work for an armored truck company. He worked at the company for six years and then worked as a route driver for FedEx. He retired in mid-2010 to take up newspaper correspondence for a local newspaper. In mid-2011 he retired altogether.

Steve took up ghost-writing for Earl Witte. Now, he plans to devote his time to his own historically based novels while enjoying life in general.

As for his interest in Earl Witte, Steve is also a great Santa Fe Railroad fan because many of his relatives worked for that railroad. He found writing about Earl's life as a railroader quite entertaining.
