Wallace describes 249 commonly encountered species of the Santa Monica Mountains,
coastal and chaparral regions of southern California. This book was made possible through a grant
from the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy, an agency of the State of California, which was created to acquire
lands and provide programs within the Santa Monica Mountains. All proceeds from this book are being used for
educational and interpretive materials within the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area.
