This is the ninth revision of Latin for Americans. This series has been a favorite among Latin teachers for several years. The program maintains a strong pedagogy. Students who study Latin using Latin for Americans are able to read connected Latin passages with comprehension of Latin as Latin.
In addition to building reading skills, the passages (often derived from classical sources), provide cultural information and comparisons between ancient and modern life. Vocabulary presented is chosen based on the frequency of its occurrence in Latin literature and English derivatives. Latin grammar is presented simply. The similarities and differences between Latin and English are regularly explained.
